SHARON MCGEE - (AUSTIN) ~ serves as Past President/CEO of
R.M. Mechanical, Inc., a WBE firm and HUB entity. She holds
a Class A Master Mechanical License for the State of Texas
and she works hands on and in the trench with her 75 R.M.
Mechanical Ambassadors. Sharon is a Certified Safety and Health
Official~CSHO and trains many organizations across the United
States on OSHA Regulations 1910 and 1926. Being a Master Trainer
for the National Center for Construction Education and Research,
Sharon enjoys sharing her time and her talents in an industry
that is always changing and engaging.
Sharon is a featured author in a book titled "Leadership
Defined" and her second book ~ Best of
the Best in Customer Service. Sharon is an "award-winning"
adjunct instructor for TEEX/OSHA and TEEX Center of Leadership
Excellence and a certified Leadership Trainer for Maximum
Impact Speakers/Dr. John Maxwell.
Serving as a Disaster First Responder for American Red Cross,
she was named a Hero in Central Texas by the American Red
Cross and was named Volunteer of the Year by United Way. Sharon
believes in giving her time and resources back to the community.
Sharon is a Past Chairman of the Board for Associated Builders
and Contractors. Sharon is on the Advisory Board of the Samaritan
Health Care Ministries, a Board Member of the National Association
of Women in Construction, is actively involved in the Alumni
of Leadership Texas and is a board member for the Women in
HVAC.
In November, 2008, Sharon was named "Woman of the Year"
by the National Association of Professional and Executive
Women. Sharon was awarded the 2006 National Leadership Award
for her outstanding service, assistance and leadership in
promoting a pro-business agenda including tax reform and fiscal
responsibility. Sharon was also awarded a 2006 Congressional
Medal of Distinction, 2007 Republican of the Year, and 2007
Congressional Order of Merit for her unyielding support, outstanding
leadership in business and contributions to the local economy.
Sharon knows it takes both men and women to make it in today's
world.
In December, Sharon McGee owner of R.M. Mechanical received
3 awards that tops her list of honors :
- Top 50 Small Businesses in Texas
- Top 100 Women Owned Businesses in Texas
- Top 500 Women Owned Businesses in the United States
All of these awards were based upon growth, diversity, leadership,
customer service and ownership. This is a testament to the
fact that Sharon McGee certainly walks her talk.
Sharon previously promoted and was actively involved in the
Mentor - Protégé' Program for the City of Austin
- Department of Small and Minority Business since 1994. She
is a 9 year Ambassador for the New York Road Runners Foundation
Team for Kids, which is an international community of adult
runners who raise vital funds for the NYRR Foundation, in
which the funds serve a pivotal role in reversing one of the
most alarming health crises of our time - childhood obesity.
Believing in the importance of mentoring, Sharon is an mentor
to youth at the Austin chapter of the Boys and Girls Club
and is a mentor for the Ann Richards School for Young Women
Leaders, that opened its doors in August, 2007 which is a
unique all-girls public school founded to educate young women
and give them the confidence and skills necessary to succeed
in college, in their careers, and in their communities.
Since selling her multi~million dollar HVAC business in Austin,
Texas in June, 2008, she has worked close to the transition,
is busy writing, running marathons and giving back to her
community. She is very active in her church. Sharon has been
married to Larry for 24 years. They love spending time with
their 5 grown beautiful children and their awesome spouses
along with their 15 fabulous grandchildren! Above all, she
loves to serve God and changing lives~one heart at a time.
